Mass is on Sundays
i am FULLY against the sentiment that we don’t owe anybody anything. we owe people common decency. we owe people respect if it has been given to us. we owe people apologies & explanations when we hurt them. i don’t care.
Folks, it's not hard to respect other people's paths. Not every witch is a pagan, not every pagan is a witch, some people mix paganism with local variations of Christianity, some people mix "anti-magic" religions with witchcraft. It might seem nonsensical to you, but as long as they're not being appropriative or harming anybody, please keep your negative comments to yourself.
For example, I'm a christian witch, and a surprising number of witches think that's an oxymoron. I've had complete beginners tell me I can't be both. I've also had more experienced people try to tell me so. But there's actually quite a precedence of christian magical practice, and honestly, it's not really anybody else's business anyway.
Just, even if you're trying to be helpful, please step back for a moment and consider how you would feel if someone told you that your (non-appropriative) practice was wrong. Consider asking about their practice and maybe learning something neat instead of casting immediate judgement. Let's try to be the welcoming and open-minded community some of us like to say we are.
Lmao if you're not a witch or magical practitioner and you're reblogging or commenting on this- it's not about you. Sorry it shows up in the christian tag, Tumblr needs to fix that shit. But I already know y'all think I'm a heretic or whatever, so save your time and energy, just block me. I talk to God regularly and They have never indicated that They are displeased with me.

Cope.
Actual interaction I had with my main guide today, in case anyone needs a dose of inspiration
Me: I actually feel at home here. Why do I actually feel at home here?
Pterano: It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?
Me: Well, yeah sure, but… how? I’m struggling, but I don’t feel like I shouldn’t exist anymore.
Pterano: That is because you are healing.
Me: I never want to feel that way again.
Pterano: No one ever does, but we’re all prone to relapse at some point or another. What matters is that you don’t let that stop you. You keep on going.
Keep on sailing.
Keep on flying.
Keep moving forward.
Uhhh hi
A little introductory post, since I don’t think I’ve created one before. I’m Petra, my pronouns are they/them and I’m aiming to be a paleontologist one day. I agree with a lot of Christ’s teachings, but I don’t identify as a Christian, nor any of its denominations. I’m more of a Christo-agnostic, really. I look at the Bible from an academic and/or philosophical perspective and I don’t take it literally. I’m witchy, but I don’t identify as a witch, since I don’t do most of the things other witches do. I just talk to my spirit guides and G-d (whom I call Unity) and sometimes they talk back.
I do a lot of shadow work and I believe everyone has a responsibility to do some sort of that work when and however they can. I work with Yeshua, my guides, and the Holy Spirit (Sophia) from time to time. They’ve been helping me heal a lot of inner trauma that came up for me earlier this year. Do I know for sure that I’m “truly” talking to these entities? No. Do they help me and encourage me to be my best self? Yes. So does it really matter? I don’t think so lmao. No one knows for certain about anything metaphysical, so why not just be honest about it?
Anywho, there it is. Just so you know, I’m not going to blindly believe some rando who tells me I’m going to “Hell” because xyz, so please save your breath. That fearmongering is not welcome on my blog.
Snuggling tbh.
For Pterano (not a deity but still), I also do scientific research and research in general.
For Yeshua, I spend time with others, show love and provide a safe space for them to be themselves as a whole.

I think as Jews we have every right to engage with discussions of Christianity, and it sucks that you’re getting so much hate about it. I hope you’re having a good day despite internet weirdos!

thank you!! tbh i think we have more right than most people- jesus was a jew, first and foremost, and christianity was at its simplest and most formative a jewish cult. if we had more of a jewish perspective in the church and in modern theology so many things could have been avoided, but we don’t and for jews to engage with christianity- and in its theology, like i am through my degree- is so deeply necessary. l'chaim bitch
Christians have been shoving their own hands into Judaism for ages now, particularly to either shit on, grossly misinterpret, or appropriate Judaism. Coming from a culturally Christian individual, I think you, as a Jew, have every right to engage with Christian theology the way you see fit. Screw what others say! Interact with the Divine how you see fit!
One of the problems with Christian deconstruction is how a lot of even the Christian deconstructionists and progressive Christians get surprisingly unwelcoming when it comes to the main doctrine of Christianity. They’re fine with me questioning anything in the Bible, but they’re not fine when I question why Yeshua has to be a literal figure in history.
Why does the idea of Yeshua being a myth automatically invalidate everything he had to teach? We learn from myths all the time, why does Yeshua have to be any different? Myths have always been sacred throughout countless cultures in human history, not because of how literally true they are, but because of the lessons they teach. Why does ours have to be different?
I know they love the idea of Unity (aka G-d) coming down as a literal human being and sharing our suffering with us. I love that idea, too. But why does that have to be a literal, historical event? Isn’t the story cool in of itself? Why can’t we just enjoy and learn from the stories instead of twisting human history to fit the Christian narrative? When I bring up those kinds of questions, I’m met with invalidation of those questions and/or defensiveness of the doctrine.
Quite frankly, I don’t feel welcome among ya’ll. This is why this blog hasn’t been all that active, or why I haven’t posted anything on Tik Tok about my deconstruction as of late. I feel like I’m too atheistic to have a place in your community, and I’m not even an atheist. I’m an omnist, I believe all religions have some sort of truth to them, whatever that truth is to the individual. Other than that, I don’t know what I believe anymore. I don’t even know who I am anymore and that’s frustrating enough without the invalidation.
Progressive Christians and Christian deconstructionists, I love ya’ll but please do better.
